Just go for a drive

Do you ever just go for a drive - jump into the car and head off with no destination in particular in mind. I do this quite often and on my off days after working nights for a while when I'm still in night mode I might take a drive at 3 or 4am. The roads are empty and the pleasure of just driving, sharing the road with nobody is great.

I don't drive but dammit, I love long journey's in the passenger seat.

Surely, I'm not the only one who stares out the window imagining there's an invisible man running alongside the car dodging obstacles (Trees, walls, sign posts)

I'd like to go for a drive. Anyone around the Northside with a car?
    Northside of town that is.

    I do indeed.
Regularly do..if I can't sleep I'll get into the car and drive off somewhere..never really take note of where I'm going.

just hook up the sat nav in case I do get lost..
when I get bored of the driving I set the sat nav for home and off we go.. :)

    I find it very relaxing

I was planning on doing this.. I recently got my full license and have driven to both Galway and Cork because I want to just drive and get better(only driving 7 months)! Thinking about Dublin soon but would think it would be easier around 2 - 3 in the morning.

What's the traffic like in Dublin that early?

Yup. I love night driving particularly. I'll head off with my favorite night driving music filling the car and just drive, doesn't matter where. Love it....

Never, ever, ever do I drive for no reason. Too many years spent commuting has put paid to that!

    I used to.
Now my car is a heap of crap and drivings too much like hard work, so it takes all the pleasure out of it.
Can't wait till i have a decent car.

I hear ya, mines a bit like that too, but I still love spinning, mainly drive to the beach, sit and watch the waves (and wave back) and go home again. Feel great after it.
