What Do I Need: Recording

    Hi all,

    My current setup is:

    Jackson Flying V
    Zoom 707 II
    Panasonic Stereo

I have the output in the Zoom connected to my stereo through the auxillary input with a phono lead. This lead has a red male jack and a white male jack on one end. This goes into the stereo. The other end has a normal jack (like the one for speakers on a PC). This, with a bigger jack over it goes into the pedal. The stereo acts as an amp and I record onto tapes.

What I want to know is what do I need both software and hardware wise in order to record onto my PC and save it as an mp3?

    Thanks in advance!

    Dave

You could just connect the zoom to the line in input of your PC, and use some free software like Audacity to record. Dont use the mic input, they tend to be very noisy.
I sometimes do something like that, with reasonable results (using a headphone out from a line6 floor pod) and it's OK for demoing songs for the band, certainly not something you'd be releasing though! You're really at the mercy of the quality of your PC's soundcard.

You'd probably be better of though with an audio interface for connecting up the instrument. You've any amount of choice in those.

Treat yourself to one of those babies, it even comes with free software. Dont let the free part put u off, its very good software and very user friendly.
