Sky confirmed today that Anytime Plus, their newly enhanced on demand service, would begin to be rolled out on Tuesday. Obviously it won't be available to Irish subscribers at first as the initial launch is for Sky Broadband customers only but I presume in a few months when it is up and running with any bugs sorted out then it will be available to subscribers with other ISP's.

Again I fail to see the point in limiting this service to a few small select subscribers to sky broadband - obviously trying to boost their broadband subscriber numbers!

I have 15MB UPC broadband, it is well capable of reaching massive speeds to the US never mind the UK!

I do understand that IPTV operates in a "ring fenced" network, but I do not see why sky anytime+ needs to be in a sky broadband network - surely its only an app added to the hd box to access the anytime player service currently on the PC??

The only reason Sky initially released it to Sky Broadband customers was if there were any problems, they could directly sort it out their end, be it a Broadband or satellite problem. Plus they wanted to release it to a small number first, then gradually work their way up to all Sky Customers. When the Sky Player was released on the Xbox, it was down for a few days because of the number of people trying to use it. Sky have said that other customers will be getting towards the end of the year/beginning of 2011.

The current line up of content is pretty poor anyway, nothing really stands out. Im sure it will improve when Sky Atlantic launches though.

exactly, it's like a public demo to make sure it works right. drawing more subscribers might be an added bonus, but since they have already announced it is going to everyone, not sure that will make much people want to change provider. this is a better approach than releasing it to everyone, ahve it all come crashing down, and then forums full of people sky bashing and asking why it isn't working
