I have heard from a reliable source that the cost of applying for the driving test is to go up to €120 in the next budget. It is not official, it may not be accurate, but I am recommending people to get their applications in soon.

Jesus, so it's going up from €75-€120, How much will the Truck/Bus test go up to?? They're already €110 at the moment.

To think only 2 years ago it was €37.50 to take the driving test.

Thats ridiculous, its too expensive as it is. Is there any truth in the rumours that the price of a full license is set to go up in the next budget?

this can only be a good thing imo.

perhaps people will take getting the licence seriously now.

If its true, its absolutely ridiculous, typical irish government, just keep on putting the prices up!!!!!!

I passed my test years ago thank god, but its very unfair on new people trying to get out there on their own.

This government just makes things harder and harder by the day...:(

I think people will be more likely to carry on driving on the Learner permit, perhaps taking the Ls down. Most have already ditched the accompanying driver anyway.

Who the hell pays 75 euro to book a test and then doesn't do it?

    That's madness.

At least I attempt me tests!

but you need a certificate of failure to renew the provisional so how do they manage that?

how does it end up costing 120e for a driving test? is there a breakdown of the cost?

Back when it was cheaper there were a lot of no shows.

Maybe a better system would be, raise it to €120 and get your money back if you attempt it.

If you don't bother to show up, no refund
If there are still a lot of no shows, hike it again.

Money back for genuine people, more penalties for time wasters :)

Is it still the case that driving testers dont stay in the same spot for very long and so their accomodation needs to be paid for?
