VAT-it

    Hello Boarders

I'm currently nearing the end of development on an Excel based program for calculating and reporting on VAT.

Its called VAT-it and its main function is to
    • provide the user with a friendly interface for inputting their bi-monthly sales and purchases invoices
    • calculate the VAT they should be returning to revenue and
    • give them numerous reporting options for themselves and other parties (e.g. accountants, banks etc)
Im aiming the product at all levels - from accountants in practice to book-keepers and sole traders.

For the average business man/woman - VAT-it gives him/her a simple way to record all their VAT related activities, keep proper books and records and reduce thier accountants fees. It also provides a detailed level of reportage so come audit time - there is already a full reconciliation of your VAT returns to invoices and once again helping in the reduction of accountants fees.

For accountants and book-keepers doing VAT returns for clients - this should significantly speed up the whole process and give you uniformity of reportage and treatment of all your clients VAT returns. I believe it is so user friendly that it could be used by those without an accountancy background. If for example you have non accountancy staff with spare capacity - this could be an ideal way to utilise that time. You dont even need to know how to use excel as it is all menu driven.

Finally - the reason I am posting this thread is because I am looking for testers for the program - beta testers if you will. Id like your feedback on the program and ideas for impovement. All you need to have is excel 2007 and to enable macros when it opens. As it is not a final product there maybe some bugs to iron but thats what I am hoping the testers will uncover.

Even if you dont want to test the product I would appreciate any input or ideas anyone might have.

    Many thanks in advance

Thanks Tilly. I will PM you with details.

On reading the charter for Boards - I see that promoting a product is forbidden and can be cause for account suspension.

I would like to emphasis that I am neither selling nor promoting anything. I am asking for some constructive input on a project of mine and some people to test the results.

If i am in breach of any by-laws please let me know and I will act accordingly

    Many thanks

Some of your OP does come across as a sales pitch, but there's no link to a sales site, and especially as the product is still in testing I'm inclined to leave it. Plus no complaints so far.

not willing to test it. Tas books can do Vat

Thanks Bruce. Ill PM you shortly

Seven-iron. Thank you - although i certainly wouldnt compare VAT-it with Tas Books. Whereas Tas is a full accounting package under user licence agreement - mine is an excel based macro driven solution for only VAT - without restrictions.

Bad time of the year looking for testers, given most of your target market would be up to their eyes, but nonetheless fire it over and i'll see if I can be of some help!

    Hi Tilly

I sent it on 25th as well. Ive resent it so hopefully it finds you. There must have been something strange with mail that day as Bruce appears to have not received the mail either. I did use the hotmail account you PM'd me. I hope it finds you this time. Let me know if you get it.

Colt - thanks for the offer but ive closed the testing now. You make a good point on the timing - hopefully the guys can find some time in their busy schedules.

    Kind regards

    Hi Guys.

Im closing this thread now. I realise that ye guys are at your busiest now so I wont pester ye anymore. VAT.it has gone out to the public so as to get a more varied response.

Thanks for all ye're efforts and feel free to comment on the new thread

Vat-it, I'm sorry I meant to come back to you sooner on this, but yep...very very busy. I'll respond on the other thread with my initial thoughts when I get home later this evening.

    Apologies again.
