    Hi all
    can anyone tell me what type of cheese it is and if you can buy it in a block or bigger ( better value ) form or an alternative that tastes the same ?

    The basic red one is an Edam style cheese.

    Very true. What passes for Edam(mer) cheese outside the Netherlands is pretty dire stuff, usually very young.
