    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows how accurate this function is. I've looked at a couple of houses with extensions but neither have anything listed on the south dublin county council map search in way of permission sought/granted.

Certain small extensions don't need planning permission.

A two bed "workshop" thats not attached to a house and a rear extension that takes up almost the entire back garden are the two things that have been on properties i've looked at but cant find the permission for.

Moved from Accommodation & Property to Construction & Planning.

Not everybody complies with the law.

As Victor said, not everyone complies. These systems are not infallible, your best bet is to go to the planning office and check it out there.

In my exp. the SDCC maps are pretty good. Most PPs appear on them quite quickly.

OP a better way to search is the actual database search function. Just enter the address and any PPs for that property show up.

I tried entering address a couple of times but nothing has come up even though i founf it on the map after searching.

Like you guys said, Not everybody complies, but why they'd try and sell their house without the right permissions is something i dont understand.

Oh, the map / database may only go back a certain number of years and the planning permission was before then.

Not the SDCC one, it goes back to PPs before the system was in place. To the somewhere in the 90s. And they are trying to complete it afaik.

OP, roughly when were these built, last few years, or 20 years ago. as if they are very old they won't be on it.

Yeah it would, IF it was required. Less than 40sq.m and its not required.
    Just ask the agent
