Having looked at Swiss/German watches for a while and coming to the conclusion that I wont be able to afford for a long time, I decided to try an alternative.
    I found this forum. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f10/
Basically Russian watches. It became clear from lurking that a good robust mechanical could be got for a fraction of the cost of a swiss.
    I ordered this watch http://www.meranom.com/amphibian-classic-46/amphibian-classic-060335.html
    50 yoyos inc delivery
It took about 2 weeks to come. Customs opened it and had no interest.
I am delighted with it, think the AK-47 of the watch world. I feel it is an affordable way into new mechanical watches, and the way thinks are, I feel it is good to highlight alternatives. You can also get Russian watches that have been "Europeanised"
Have a look at this thread

    Thats me asking the question.
I have a second Vostok inbound.
    Best,
    S'Doctor

I have the blue dialled Amphibia with the scuba diver on the dial. Good value for the money, although mine needs regulating. Just wish it had a quick setting date function.
