I am thinking about replacing the radiators in my house. There are 7 radiators - 2 small and 5 large.

I was just wondering if anyone had any idea how much a plumber would charge for doing this? I'd be buying the rads seperate so am just looking for an idea of labour costs and how long it would take.

    Thanks!

Some plumbers might only quote for two people on day. Simply to drain down system and replace rads and refill system.

BUT in reality I would also factor in these works if you want it done correctly.

    A. Pre works-visit:
Add in "cleanser" in to your heating system to break down sludge and dirt.

    B. Day of works. (LONG DAY)
    Draindown system.
Allow for altering pipework and fittings at rads as newer rads might be different lenghts.
Refill system, run boiler and circulate hot water through pipes, rads and boiler and drain down system again.
    Refill with inhibitor.
    Run and vent system.

    C. Additional works.
I would at this point highly recommend fitting Thermostatic radiator valves on to most of the radiators to allow for more efficient control.
You will have to pay a little more on labour but the worth it. If you want to do it later you will have to drain system and possible mod pipework again and you will have to refill with inhibitor again.

You can buy the rad valves with the rads and you may get a better deal!!
