When is the cambelt on these models due for a change.
And how are the high mileage ones holding up in peoples experiences?

Every 80k miles or 5 years as per the handbook for my 2003 2.5TDi allroad.

If you're getting a dealer to do it, price around, but prepare to pay. I tried a couple of independents down here, but they wouldn't do it as they didn't have the specialist tools.

I eventually got it done in Walshe Motors in Belfast for around €500 including the auxilary belt and water pump which I would recommend you get done at the same time.

Eugene walsh in belfast is very good,i would avoid a main dealer in favour of a good indie, while it's in getting done have them inspect the camshafts (x4) also these engines are notorious for cam shaft wear and ultimately camshaft failure leading to big bills,

Have a look at the guys out in Dun Laoghaire, they used to be Jetstar who were VAG specialists from what I recall but they are now called Gerard Lee motors..

I have used them a few times for jobs on my A6 and would recommend them.

Not cheap but cheaper than a main dealer and know their stuff.

By the way, I'm not associated with them in anyway, just giving my 2c :)
