Druids Heath Meeting

    DH are having a meeting with their members next Thursday evening, since the Druids Glen Resort is no longer with the Marriot, they hired a new general manager in July and he and the Golf Manager Barry Dowling are addressing the members.

    As of next year DH will be GUI affiliated, Junior Cup, Barton Cup etc

    I'll post what comes out of the meeting, I know a few board users are interested if DH is GUI affiliated with teams etc..

    I am playing the Heath in the morning with a view to joining soon.... I will be very interested in that information ;)

    Back from DH AGM, positive news for 2011..

    GUI Affiliation for next year.
    Captain to be voted and selected by end of November.
    Handicap Committee to be in place for next year.
    Entry's into Junior Cup, Barton Cup, Pierce Purcell and Jimmy Bruen.
    At present only singles comps at w/e, now will have 4balls/team on the opposite day of singles at w/e.
    Work being carried out this winter re bunkers, biggest problem with the course, acknowledged by DH and has hired specialist to work on them.

    Other bits and pieces mentioned, but overall it's welcome news. I for one would have not rejoined if they hadn't stepped up to the plate re committees, interclub comps, so happy to rejoin in Jan.

    They were also saying that you can avail of either a fore ball in the glen or a night in the hotel for 2. As part of your joining fee! And there's an open comp in the glen On a Tuesday, which is 10 euro to Heath members! Which I didn't know about.. Pitty I hav a job ha!
