    Hi All,
I'm getting married next week and we are spending our honeymoon in ireland as we both work abroad. We are spending 3 nights near Westport but would like to spend an other week or so somewhere in the west. Anyone got any ideas ? ?
    Thanks
    :)

Depends on budget, but I'd suggest Connemara - a beautiful part of the country. Somewhere like the Zetland House in Cashel, near Roundstone maybe?

I also love West Cork - Schull is a great place to stay.

I think it depends on what you want - wild beauty or relaxing near nightlife...

The Lake Hotel in killarney. I have heard that it is realy good for a honeymoon. My cousin stayed there for hers and found it fantastic. She said to stay in the 4th or 5th floor - balconys, jacuzzi over-looking lake etc. Meant to be very romantic.
Although, it may be a bit far down if you are looking for somewhere in the west.

Yes it depends if you want a relaxing week or not. As someone said, Roundstone in Connemara is fabulous and you're within driving distance of Killary fjord, Leenane etc. You could also drive up to Sligo and spend a couple of days on the coast up there.

I'd also recommend west Cork too; around Baltimore.

If the weather is good i.e. not lashing
rain most places along the west/south west/north west will be beautiful.

    What's your budget?
Ashford Castle is a wonderful hotel to spend a few days in.

We spent ours at Bunratty in County Clare. The Burren is pretty nice, depending on the time of year. October is when the place seems to shut down though.

Otherwise, I'd recommend West Cork like the others! It's absolutely beautiful...:D Or how about the Dingle Peninsula?

Wexford is nice too. It was my husband's family's favourite holiday spot.

You could travel to Enniscrone and stay right on the beach, approx 50 min drive from Westport.
Suggested Itinerary - one night en route in McWilliam hotel in Claremorris - have a spa day and pamper yourselves.
Continue on to Enniscrone and stay in Diamond Coast Hotel or the Ocean Sands Hotel - both lead right onto the beach. Really pretty and quaint town. Sligo & Donegal very accessible from there also.

Or Galway would be an option? Plenty of fab hotels and things to do.
