Well, anyone see this, Balarney Gardens had a cannabis and opium plants in there poison garden exhibit, Gardaí busted it, even tho the Balarney garden applied for a license to grow the plants.

honestly thing that annoys me the most is the cannabis plants being in a POISON GARDEN exhibit, i mean come on tobacco is a far worse plant, its attitudes like this that need to change so we can move on decrimilise or legalise this perfectly harmless plant

    EDIT:
forgot to link to the article haha

It's not the plants it's the crime linked to them that's the problem. And I don't think the Garda or the state want to see Billions of euros wasted, when they will have gangsters running coffee shops etc.. All perfectly legal.

if anyone who has serious crimes against them cant get a license to be a doorman im sure we can have a similiar system for these shops, its just imparting a bad attitude on visitors i think, no?

This is so embarrassing. The plants were locked up so no-one could get at them. and most cannabis strains wouldn't produce decent buds in an Irish climate.

Some over zelous parent harrassing the guards into doing something no doubt

I was under the impression certain types of hemp could be grown under licence, due to the low thc content.

i think a plant with a load of pints on it would be more fitting, i mean who in this country hasnt had 12 pints and been poisoned the next day, 12 joints and youll be laughin the next morning

mentions in articles they are very very hard to get, as for some reason we still think its the devil, and actually the males of the plant have little to no thc content, smoke all you want but you wont get high

    Some info here.

It's grown in a secret Carlow location, apparently.

    Edit; Not so secret, perhaps.

doest need to be secret, there is a difference between male and female, one gets you high the other doesnt, and hemp wont get you high

There's some strains that are legal but they do not produce any THC.

THC is illegal not the plant. Hence you can buy seeds.

there is no thc in seeds, and its not some strains its the males dont produce thc, only the females, and only really in teh buds, stems are useless

I wonder if the cop who made the decision to pull the plants actually thought about it.

The words jerk and knee reaction spring to mind.

The words "can't be arsed investigating real crimes" spring to mind. The castle owners sent letters explaining their intent months before the raid. Gardaí just need to be seen doing something...anything. Complete waste of taxpayer's money, but then that's nothing new in this country.

According to the 6 news, the cops had been round before and knew all about it, while licence was pending for growing the plants. However, yesterday or so, a reporter rang and asked the Gardai for comment.....thus the words "gob" and "shites" might be needed.

Well that's what i meant when I said you could buy the seeds - they don't contain THC

Didn't know that about males. Thought they were just removed to prevent pollination.

I thought there were thc-free strains, a girl in a head shop was selling what she claimed to be seeds which would grow into thc-free plants

They were either hemp seeds or she was an idiot. Cannabis sativa/indica and hemp plants are very different strains. Hemp plants grow tall with very few side branches and have little to no TCH content, regardless of whether they're male or female. It's similar to your garden variety poppy plants versus opium poppies. Same species, different strain.
