If you take a trip up North or to the UK, Dixons are selling the Humax FOXSAT-HDR for £209 (that's the recorder box).

Amazon are selling the standard Humax HD box for £122 (should be free delivery too).

Amazon is quoting 148 euro for this, was it not cheaper elsewhere I saw mentioned on here?

    Maybe this?

Listed at £89.95 as a "Grade A / Managers Special" from the Humax shop. Not sure what the delivery charges would be like though.

Good box, good price, often agreeable to reasonably priced delivery to Ireland if requested.

Tony, these boxes don't do BBC iplayer, perhaps they're falling out of favour in the UK because of that ?

Indeed, the iplayer not really an issue so far here as AFAIK you need a proxy IP to use it.

Total plank here regards freesat how do you pick it up is it through your sky dish and whats available on it.

Plug sky cable into your freesat box

Insert a UK postcode (so the box knows which regional BBC/ITV variants to tune in)

The box then scans and tunes in channels.

    Done in 10 minutes.

    Main channels are: BBC1, 2, 3, 4, BBC News & BBC HD (BBC1 HD coming Nov 3rd). ITV 1, 2, 3, 4 (& all + 1's) & ITV HD. Channel 4, 4+1, More 4, More 4 +1, E4, E4 +1, Film Four, Film Four + 1. Channel Five.

Plenty of other channels, though most quality programming on the above

Freesat will give you nearly all UK tv for free. It will not give you Irish TV as you will need an aerial to get that for free, either analogue or digital.

Freesat is great - trouble free and free.

Just in case anyone is considering it, Dixons are online only in the UK. Even though Currys are part of the same company, prices are often higher.
