Problem playing online with same PS3 master account

    Hi all,

I have a slightly complex problem... I want to play PES 2011 against my brother online, but one of us is always blocked from logging in to the server if the other is online. My master account is the same one as his, as it allows us both to download all the accumulated content on the account from the past couple of years... and it must be this that is causing the issue.

The trouble is that when I create a new account to try and play online against him, the same problem occurs. I don't want to delete the shared master account from my PS3, as I will lose all my downloads presumably. Is there a way to get around this problem? We live at different addresses btw, and I have no problems playing anyone else online, or getting online otherwise.

That's called game sharing which Sony frown upon.
Why would they let you do this? Less money for them.
Id say you will have to delete the master account. Create a new one and then add a secondary one for your game share.
So when you want to play against him, he is logged in on his master account and so are you...

once youre both logged in with different psn id's it shouldnt make any difference, you should be able to play fine

    am i misunderstanding something here?

you dont have to have an account set as a master account to use the same games btw

    *edit*

ive got multiple accounts on my current playstation (one is mine, one is one of the other writers in works - we use each others psns to share review code, one is my brothers, one is a hong kong psn account, one is canadian, one is american) and ive never encountered any problems. my account is set as the master account (if by that you mean the one that signs in when you log in), but you can set any of them as it. once the account is actually on the ps3 at all, youll be able to play games from it. it doesnt need to be the default account at all

So if I was to delete the master 'share' account, would those games I have downloaded from that account remain on my ps3? And could I add it as a secondary account afterwards?

No need to delete it. Just create a new user name and then a new PSN ID.

You won't have the same trophies/friends list but all your downloaded games will still be there and playable.

but if i dont delete it, then surely its still operating as my master account... i created a new PSN id a week ago, and it still wouldn't let me play him online...

you can pick which account signs in automatically, theres no "master account" as such

youre signing him out when you sign in coz youre both turning on the machine with the same psn account. just change the default sign in from the one you both use to another one, and get him to do the same

theres no need for either of you to actually use that psn account to either log in or play online with. you only need to use it to buy games on psn, and share them

you CANT delete it if you want to be able to use the games youve downlaoded with it though, it needs to be on the machine
