UPC box channel display problem

On some channels on my upc HD PVR box the channel display is wonky. For example, on UTV it keeps typing up UTV repeatedly and does not simply display the programme and then stop flashing.

I tried the usual unplugging trick and I also did a factory reset to no avail. upc tell me it probably because I have too many programmes recorded (??!!!) which I don't accept, and at least one other person tells me they have the same problem with only 5% of the disk full.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas on how to stop it?

(I know the obvious answer to many people will be to switch to Sky, which I may finally do.)

I've got the same issue for the last few days now. Really annoying when you're trying to flick through channels.
I've re-started the box a few times but that does nothing to help.

This happened a few weeks ago with a dodgy update they released, but they released another update a couple of days later to resolve it. I cant say Ive noticed it on my HD box (as of 9pm last night and 8am this morning) so it may already be resolved, or only certain boxes are affected.

Stilll a problem on my HD+ box, although I only noticed it after reading this thread ..

Remote unresponsive as well, definitely dodgy software ...

Currently on the apprentice you're fired, It goes

    BBC 2 BB B BBC 2 BB B BBC2 BB B BBC2 ...............

It's strange, If I hit the OK button and go left arrow to see what's on bbc 1 , the display on the box then returns to normal, displaying channel and program info ..

Hitting the back button to remove the on screen display, returns the box display to the stuttering state ...

Same with me. It was ok for about the last 10 days or so but now it's doing the same thing again.

upc clearly have no idea what is happening. One of their technicians called out to me about a week ago. Of course it was working fine then and he had nothing to suggest if it started again.

It's really annoying that thye simply can't work out what is going wrong at their end.

Sky are edging closer and closer to my house. The only reason I have stuck with upc is for their broadband, but I suppose I can always go back to eircom.

Has anyone out there got any clue what the problem is with this display??

You're gonna be mighty disappointed with the front panel display on a Sky box

I've just checked my box and it looks ok - Are you all still having this problem?
