Joe Little here has written a considered critique of Draft TGDL 2010 for which the consultation period expires 29th Oct .

Typically the Department gets hardly any response during consultation . They would respond to voices in numbers though so please don't leave it to others to make comments

For instance , think it's crazy that
houses built , in effect , to PH standards , MUST have renewables
that hollow block dry lined is still included even for incredibly low U Values
that there is no requirement to test extensions or refurbs for air tightness

Well thats' whats planned and thats what will be if no one comments to the DOE

Read Joe's blog to see the considered arguments

    AND MAKE A SUBMISSION PLEASE

submission sent, with 2 hours to spare.
    issues
a get rid of backstop u values
b change DEAP algorithm in favour of rewarding rather than penalising compact form
    c. Good practice airtightness needs to be at worst 5 rather than 7 as per UK regs
    d. Prioritise fabric improvements over bolt on low carbon tech.
    e. What the fcuk are hoolow block and steel frame still doing the regs
f, moisture management in refubs, haphazard fabric improvments with new heat producing appliances can leave surfaces below dew point causing damp and mould.

Its going to be great fun when these come in, that is if anyone is building with permissions lodged after june 2011
