    Im in Midleton in Cork and it seems to have quiet good coverage on all networks, so im just wondering what peoples experiences have been on them, and even betetr if they have been on 2 or more of them. At the moment, im leaning towards Meteor with their free eircom hotspot option, ive also heard they have improves their network a lot.

    Im a regular internet user, browse the web mostly really, dont watch hardly any video's, and I can download stuff elsewhere if it eats into the usage a lot. Im getting 1.6mbps with eircome broadband at home, via wireless, and to be honest im happy enough with that, but due to costs im switching to mobile broadband.

    Any thoughts/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Mobile isn't Broadband. It's not designed as a replacement for real Broadband but occasional & Intermittent MOBILE operation, as "on the go" real fixed Broadband isn't possible.

    If the Eircom land line rental is too expensive look at UPC or Digiweb Metro if available.

    Note that Mobile Data congestion is limited by Cap, so Cap has to decrease eventually.
    Note that Mobile Data is sold WAY below cost. The Price could easily quadruple and it might STILL be subsidized by voice.

    Over Cap on Eircom is only maybe €10 or less a Gigabyte. On Mobile it's €120 to €820 per Gigabyte.

    There is no assurance on Mobile that if you have 6Mbps this week, that you won't have 0.7Mbps most all the time a few weeks later. It's reasonably probable.

    If price is the reason for switching, then look at alternative DSL providers, or bundle options with eircom. Vodafone, Perlico, Smart and Magnet all offer DSL bundled with line rental (and optional call packages) at a reduced price, and I think all of them are cheaper than eircom's pricing.

    After that, you could check for any fixed wireless service, where there is no line rental. I think Digiweb Metro's pricing starts at around €20, same as mobile midband.

    A good signal strength is in no way indicative of what kind of speed/service you'd get with the 3G service. It only means you can get it. Even with full signal strength, you can have terrible pings and speed.
