Triton T80si - Not heating normally

    Hi all;

    Recently I've had a problem with a Triton T80si that's been installed 5 years or so.
    At first when using I thought I could smell a strong burning type smell every once in a while but there was no obvious problem with the shower (this was probably 4 months ago)

    Last week I noticed that there water would not heat to its usual temperature on its usual setting (between 5/6) so I had to turn the control knob all the way up to 9/10 to get it reasonably warm -
    this means there's very little pressure on the water now coming out of the head but it's at least some bit warm.

    I was reading through the threads here and decided to open it up for a look - even I can tell it's not good news. :(

    Seems the Thermal cut-out has burned out? (that's what the part looked like on the user manual I found online)

    I suppose the question is should I bother looking to get the required parts replaced here? Or should I just pay out and get a newer/better/upgraded model? Oh and just how dangerous might it be to continue using? :eek:

    Thanks for any help you might have :)

    If your confident enough it would be cheaper to replace the shower. The T80 is not expensive. its priced in the 100-200 bracket. Considering parts might set you back 50 euro it seems pointless..

    Having said that you do not have it long and fixing it might see the shower last another 10 years.

    Its worth bearing in mind the T80 is a mains shower as you know and outside dublin mains is very unreliable. Although the termal cut out went the underline cause might be water pressure related which could also happen again.

    Hi guess of the Tco was wrong. If Tco is dead you wouldn't have any warm water at all.
    It was possibly a micro switch but more likely 1 of the 2 heating elements had blown. In this case he would need a new heating can.
    Have to say though it never ceases to amaze my hearing "I smelt burning, had a look & continued to use the shower". You should never ever use an electric appliance if you smell burning especially an electric shower where you have water and electricity in the same unit.

    Edit: I couln't see the photos on my phone so was going on what op said. I'm on PC now & you can obviously see that the terminals on the neutral side of the element were burnt out. In this case op would have to had changed the Heating can & wireing assembly
