This is an old thread but I am wondering if a party wall which is fully 'indoors' as part of an extension on both sides but say the extension on one side stops short, only going as far as 3m while the other goes 8m, the full length of the party wall. Is there any issue there - condensation or otherwise?

Any wall built on the boundry is a party wall, be it internal 225mm, cavity, or 100mm garden wall.

There is no issue with the above as long as it was built right. When the first extension stops stort, the wall that continues is a now external. So it must be insulated, ventilated, etc just like other external wall.

Actually, being a party wall has no bearing here. Assuming one extension was built first, then the entire party wall would be insulated. Basically, if the extra 5m was built as 225 solid with no insulation, its wrong. This has nothing to do with the other extension.

Thanks. Would there need to be a pillar for a 7m wall on the flat? Can I build right up against the party wall just ad insulation and drywall? Or do I need to go with a cavity type wall?

In my opinion you are always better to go with a independnat wall, as you've no real control over the existing wall in the future.

As for specifics of pillars of details, we can't really advice in a general sense on those issues.
Best to get a good local Architectural technician to have a look
