    Hi,
I know this is probably the most basic of questions but I've read and read and can't find an answer.

I have a sony tv with MPEG4 tuner built in. At the moment I pay a sky subscription and these are the only channels we get.

I'd like to know if I will be able to get the Irish digital channels without buying any equipment? or will I need an aerial of some sort? If so, what is it called, where would I get one and how much do they cost?

What kind of place do you live in and where roughly?
We need to know whether an outdoor aerial is needed and whether it's possible.
The tv being mpeg will decode the digital pictures fine.

There are conflicting opinions as to what level of spec RTE will end up implimenting but I personally like most people lately have mpeg tv's and expect that to be the requirement.
