Hi. I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a good photography shop in Boston. Was hoping to find something along the lines of B&H in New York.
I'm off there in a couple of weeks and am looking to pick up a lens.

    Thanks

You can't go wrong with Calumet Photographic in Boston (or anywhere else for that matter):

heading to Saint Louis Missouri on Saturday. been looking up camera shops there, as you do [even though it's not a holiday, but, I'll still find time to have a nose] , Anyone ever heard of Creve Coeur? or Ritz Camera?

I heard of Ritz, but all the stores i've been in tend to be on the small side (seems like they would normally deal with processing only). I wouldnt say they hold much stock.
But i'm sure there's bound to be a couple of larger stores dotted throughout america.

We're all heading Stateside, whoohooo :D

I just looked up Ritz and they have the Nikon 55-300mm VR for $399, that's only €286! But don't they do that no VAT till you hit the counter thing over there?

    Nikon AF-S 70-300mm F4.5-5.6G VR Lens in Conn's: €549

Same lens in Ritz: $599, which is €429. There has to be a catch? I'm guessing it's the tax they add on at the counter?

Ritz is a chain of small stores (and I think a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hunt's, which is a chain of larger photo stores.) I don't think either one would have the kind of selection you're looking for. Even Calumet probably won't have as much as someplace like B&H.

I've not heard of Creve Coeur (Coeur is "heart" in French though.) Good luck finding stuff on your trip. (to all those going on trips!)

As Heebie said Ritz is a chain. A large national chain in the US. It is probably the last place I would go looking to buy anything in the states.

I am a bit biased I have dealt with them in the past and have found them horrid.

    Cheers, noted :)

I won't be looking for anything specific, only if I happen to find somewhere half decent that has what I want. And also, if I happen to have the spare cash! Saving but, i guess we'll have to eat too :D

They are fairly big and have a very extensive stock, just about anything you might need.
They have shops in 520 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, their flagship store is in Melrose Massachusetts, Hadley, Cambridge, Rhode Island, New hampshire and Maine.

I found them nice to deal with and when my wife was in the store was impressed with them. Sean was the guy I dealt with. Cant remember exactly but I saved about 50% on a 70-200 f2.8 lens. The price difference is not as big now but still you will save a good deal by buyig there.
