Can anyone recommend good tape / materials for strapping up ankles before sparring and / or a link for wrapping techniques?

Is there anything in particular your strapping it against?.. ie, inversion sprain etc?.

I take it your taking about an inversion sprain as this is the most common.

Have you a history of this injury?.

If you have what rehab methods did you use, if any?

Yes I have a history and use basic ankle strengthening excercises but no professional rehab.
Have been to physios several times over the years and none have really done much good long term.

Frankly my ankles are rubbish but I'm too old in the tooth at this stage to go getting professional help. Just want some strapping techniques to hold me together for some sparring.

Ok, from my own recent experience I suggest you read this thread..

There's a physio supplies mentioned in the thread too, I used their Mueller tape for strapping.

And as for finding physio's no good - well I've been in constant pain with mine since the initial injury in June. On 4 Brufen tabs a day as well as Solapadol and off the mat.

Visited an Osteopath last Thursday night, and have been pain free since. I'm staying away from Judo until the new year, however in the gym I've been able to squat and dead lift once again.. I've also been able to walk unaided up and down my home stairs, I'm 20 minutes away from my next visit - so, don't give up hope.

    *Just a late addition.

Search youtube for strapping methods to prevent and 'inversion sprain'.
