    Hi

don't know if anyone has experienced this before.

lately on at least 4 or 5 ocassions in the last 2 weeks the drivers door lock is not opening when i press open on the key fob.

all other doors open except the drivers door, meaning i look very stupid having to get in the passenger door. when i'm in i stick the key in the ignition, mess around with the fob and eventually the drivers door will unlock.

any ideas? it's a pain in the ass.

Will the drivers door unlock if you put the key in the door or when you flip the lock from the inside? Sounds like you have a lazy motor or the locking rods in the door have come loose.
If you can unlock the door from the inside or by putting the key in the door you'll probably need a new motor.

The key in the door would certainly be handier than climbing in the other door.
If its a current model passat, it does still have a back up key in the fob.

I have a 2002 passat; when I'm in the car and flick the lock door button, all the doors lock bar the drivers which flips back up.

    Is this normal?

The Ops problem sounds like a fecked door lock module. You have to replace the entire assembly....I think its in the region of 120euro from the main dealer. Obviously you could get from a breaker.

There is a lot of strange problems associated with a faulty microswitch in the drivers door module (they wear down due to to use and fail to register when the door is open or closed thus causing problems with the central locking as the CCU can detect one door open). Again VW and haynes manual recommend to replace the entire assembly but it can be repaired using a IP67 microswitch from radionics.
