Hi all- looking for suggestions for a decent mechanic who could travel to a naas road dealer to inspect a 2nd hand car (focus) I'm thinking of buying. A PM would be appreciated as I'm sure theres rules against posting details.

    Thanks!:D

    Watch out for:
1)Clocks, when you start the car up make sure the needles of the rev counter and speedo don't start dancing around the place. Its rare enough but can happen.

2)Pop the bonnet, the start the engine and get someone to switch it off while you listen to the engine. If you hear a hissing sound then it is the crankcase ventilation pipe, easy and cheap fix.

3)Under the alternator you will see 2 pipes going into the engine connected by a black plastic thermostat housing, get a mirror and a light to look around it, if they are pink stains then it could be leaking. Again cheap easy fix.

4)Basics: Can you have a look at brake pads? Ask about the service history and the timing belt. It should be replaced every 100,000 miles or ten years, so get it done if it was not done already.
4 tires and spare make sure they are ok and no track marks, also look for the jack and tools etc.

Overall they are a good car, rarely give trouble, nice to drive.
