I've only used the first one, it's a good job but I think the 140 is slightly better as a scope mounted lamp...

Is it that its smaller size is more managemable on a scope, rather then the 170 ?

What gun you putting it on??

I use the 170 on my 223 and find it great.

if its something more manageable - I had a Deben promax Tracer on my hornet and it was the perfect size with a great amount of light but couldn't be adjusted out to longer ranges (200meters+)for the 223.

never used the led's.

I have a LED 250 lumen torch on my 223 and its good to about 200y through the scope. So the 60 lumen won't be worth p!ss IMO.

Anyway the 170 lightforce will always be better in every way over anything else.

Look here for a review

Lads,
From the two lamps below, which is the best as a gun mounted lamp.

Lightforce Rifle Scope Mounted RMSM170 Striker Lamp
Scroll down the page a bit after you click on the first link below for the specs. of this one.

OR
LED Lenser Police Tech Accessory Kit as seen below :

Any lads used these lamps before ? Which is the better lamp for getting the illusive Charlie who tried to dig 4 seperate holes into my hen house \ run on Friday night last ?

Thanks Lads !:D
That Lenser is the P3 and it's way too small for a .223. I have the bigger bro in the P7 and it's still not really good enough on the .223. I still take the cumbersome Lf 140 with awkward battery pack for it's long distance and throw ability over the little P7.

Step 1.

Buy scope mounted LF 170 Striker (with dimmer).

Step 2.

Go shoot the fox.

Step 3.

Be smug in your purchase :D

For what it worth......
I have a P7 LED Lenser with pressure switch and wouldn't swap it. Throws a great beam of light (200 lumens) in excess of 150 yards. Eyes light up all around. Compact and doesn't add too much weight to the gun. 84 euro well spent.

I bought a scope mounted striker 170 to sit on a tikka .223 after reading of johngalways success with it.
I have shot easily 30-40 foxes with it completly solo with a battery pack on my back,i actually was out with it last saturday nite and shot 2,
The slip on slip off system makes lamping on your own easy enough when i say easy enough i mean you still have to lug 13lbs of rifle and a 2kg battery with ya but when you want to get out after a fox it means you dont need to rely on a fella to hold the lamp for you.
I can see clearly to 250yards with it.

I find it's not just the amount of light but the quality of light and the light force reflector is hard to beat.

Thanks for all of the opinions lads, much appreciated!!!

I reckon I'm going to go for the LF 170 Striker.....I have a handheld version of this that connects to a twin deben battery pack that clips around my waist, I presume this battery pack will also power the gun mounted striker ?

It will if the connections are the same, they're easily changed if not. For how long is dependent on the packs amps.

I might be taking you up wrong, but thought I should mention it anyway. If you're thinking of taking out two lamps, on your own, don't. Trust me :D It'll sap your will to live.

Use the scope mountable lamp like you would a handheld lamp. When you need it on the scope, just clip it on.
