Cheapest way to get to London

I have to travel to London Friday evening. I can return either Saturday or Sunday. What is the cheapest option for me to get there and back? I was looking at Ryanair and it seems a bit expensive. Would it be possible to do it for about €100? I'd also be open to the idea of travelling to a different city and getting a bus/train to London. I'm desperate and I could use some help and I'm open to any sort of suggestions!

dublin (busaras) to london (victoria coach station) via holyhead (on the stena ferry). dept 2015 friday and arrives 0845 saturday morning.

it's 48 euro. granted, not a nice journey .. but there's one option.

you could check the coast of a the ferry then a train from holyhead that might work out cheaper, tho given the short time frame I doubt your going to get it for under 100euro

Why not go with Sail & Rail? It is one ticket for both ferry and train and works out somewhere around 40 quid.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Looking into sail & rail but not sure if the times will suit. I have a job interview first thing Saturday morning hence I want to get there Friday night rather than going straight to the interview after travelling for so many hours.

Any other suggestions? I know my budget is a bit of a problem but I really cant afford to spend much more; and especially since my chances of getting the job are probably low.

If you get the 1:15pm Stena ferry from Dun Laoghaire, you should be in London Euston just after 9pm, so not too late.

Sorry, I should have said; I wont be able to travel until after 4pm on Friday (I know, Im making it awkward for myself but I cant help it!). But I would be prepared to go from any of the airports/ports in the country.

Do check out SkyScanner then. There are so many flights between Ireland and the UK, you can probably snatch something for €10 if you are flexible on Friday afternoon and then use a train for the rest.

I have never seen a last minute for a tenner. Are you sure?

Always a matter of luck. Last minute as in "tomorrow" - no. But a couple of weeks or, with a bit of luck, a week ahead - yes.

Very old school and I must say I would have never thought of something like that. A very good tip in case of emergency. Good post.

I can vouch for Sail & Rail, this is how I generally return to Ireland at Xmas/whenever I have the time, I'm sick of airports and in comparison the train/ferry combo is very relaxing.

This is something I had never even considered before and live in DL as well! ARe there many changes with the trains from the ferry port to London?

    Have a look yourself here.

    http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/en/s/timetable/times

Input HHD and EUS (Holyhead and Euston).

Depending on the train, I am getting between zero and two changes.

The trick is to buy a through ticket from STENA to take you all the way to london. Seriously cheaper than a seperate ferry and train ticket.

usually the 1:15 DL ferry gets in too late for the 15:23 train which is a real bummer, this means you have to wait for the 16:36, then it is two hours to Chester followed by a short wait for the Crewe train (long enough for a pint and a quick smoke though). Chester is a pretty small station and this is pretty straight forward.

At Crewe you need to cross the footbridge to get the London train (Crewe is a pretty big station), but again this isn't too complicated. From there you will pick up the Virgin train, which is a pretty nice way to travel. You should get in to London just after 9pm.
