    Did anyone go to Octocon?

It was a brilliant weekend, with workshops on things like "creating a likable anti-hero", "ethics in YA fiction" and "submitting to magazines". There was a workshop on weapons which was eye-opening. I had no idea there was so much science involved in using a long sword - or that you got so tired wielding one!

I had no idea it even existed. It sounds terrific. Wish I'd gone now.

This year was my first Octocon and I loved it. I'm only on the second book in A Song of Ice and Fire, but I loved the GRRM panels. I also went to the Anti-Hero and Ethics in YA fiction. I really enjoyed Peadar O'Guilin - so much that I downloaded the first book in his Bone World trilogy :)

I was at Octocon as well - shame that most of the creative writing panels conflicted with other stuff I wanted to do. Like swordfighting. Peadar O'Guilin was my sparring partner for a little while, a virtue which makes me very tempted to have a go at some of his books...for some reason! :pac:

It was a great show, though, made better by George R. R. Martin being there. :D
