    Hi all,

I opened Finder a minute ago, and noticed that a label called "Shared" had appeared down the left hand side, with something listed underneath it. This is a screenshot:

I've no idea what this is. Info said it was a "PC server". I restarted my laptop and it was still there, but it's subsequently disappeared. It's unnerved me because I have no idea what it is, but I'm hoping someone can shed some light.

I'm paranoid because I downloaded a program a couple of nights ago that installed a toolbar without my permission. I've done my best to remove all traces of it, but an "alert" icon is still appearing at the top of my screen. I don't know if that had something to do with it? My laptop has been acting up slightly over the past couple of days, so I'm on the lookout for anything odd.

There isn't a pc turned on nearby that you share files with? That's the same kind of thing that appears when I connect to a pc.

PC or Smartphone on the wireless network I'm guessing ?

Yeah, it's something on your network. Do you have other devices connected to your home network?

There's another PC in the house, but I've never connected to it. My bluetooth is off, so I'm not sure how it would have connected without me knowing?

Is it running Win7 ? I think Win7 PC's can be accessed over a wireless network...

I get that when I have Parallels Desktop or Fusion running. The name is too random to be another real computer I think. Can you recall the name of the toolbar ? Or can you tell us the app you downloaded ?

It's a Windows Share whatever it is.

Would it be someone using your wireless network without your knowledge? I had that problem last year and started limiting access to the network by mac address and changed the WEP. It's a bit of a pain when adding new devices to the network but worth it.
