Hi I’m just wondering how far back records go. Something happened involving me years ago. What happened doesn't matter but the guards were involved, I was wondering if how I go about getting to look at the file to see the outcome. or if anything was done at all as I have never heard anything nor my parents ( baring in mind this happened between 15 -20 years ago )

It would be class to see it.

well if you havent heard about it since there will be no record there, you would of have to gone to court and been convicted for there to be a record.

If it happened 15-20 years ago then it will not be on the Garda computer system which makes the progress more difficult to track down. If it was a summary matter then the paper trail could well be destroyed at this stage. If it was an indictable matter then there is a good chance the file still exists in storage. I don't think you can get access to Garda reports to read or photocopy them, but you are entitled to know the outcome of a case.

Without further details from you your question cannot be categorically answered.
