Working with people who are homophobic?

I work in a caring profession and one of the people who I'm ostensinly there to help has expressed both homophobic and transphobic views . A fair bit of homophobia is due to men being perceived as feminine or women masculine anyway, isn't all to do with who we bed.

Isn't easy for me to help this individual, going to have it discussed by superiors later this week.

His views are not directly related to the service but it has discoloured the water.

Not quite sure what the exact context is, or what your profession is but if you're a carer and this person is your client you may want to refer to Biestek's 2nd principle, Purposeful Freedom of Expression. And of course the rule of confidentially.Never an easy one, but that's the joy of being a professional carer.
In saying that if it's a case that your client is *publicly* and explicitly expressing his feelings within a group or towards certain individuals then you should of course tell your client first that this is unacceptable and tell them that you intend to air the matter with your superior.

My second job in which i work is a pretty homophobic setting so i keep my head down and get on with it. Not forever though, thats where a photocopy of the equality act will come in handy.
