Synth Eastwood in association with Darklight 2010 present:
Gruff Rhys & the Irish Premiere of his documentary Separado!
(Followed by a Q&A with both Gruff & and Director Dylan Jones)
Saturday 30th October 2010, IFI Cinema, Dublin.

...Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals, Neon Neon) will attend Darklight 2010 to premiere his new documentary Seperado!

The documentary is a psychedelic western musical in which Gruff takes us on a pan continental road trip in search of his long lost Patagonian uncle, the poncho wearing guitarist Rene Griffiths.

Director Dylan "Goch" Jones follows Gruff Rhys on a tour that takes in the theatres, nightclubs and desert teahouses of Wales, Brazil and the Argentine Andes as he discovers what became of his family, the Welsh Diaspora and its musical legacy.

Gruff's music, his quietly relentless work ethic and the constantly inventive visual identity tied to each project he is involved in are the key reasons why Synth Eastwood have invited Gruff to Darklight 2010. There are too many amazing videos, record covers, ideas, stage designs, notions, props and stunts to mention here but the infectious sense of creativity, occasion and fun is always evident in everything Gruff produces.

With Very Special Guest DJs Gruff Rhys & Andy Votel, Darklight DJs, B-Music DJs & Synth Eastwood (Live Audio/Visual Set)

To celebrate the successful completion of another glorious Darklight Festival are teaming up with B-Music and Darklight themselves to host a Halloween themed closing party of unrivaled gore and awe (and music). This spectrecle will take place in the newly refurbished multi-room venue THE GRAND SOCIAL (formerly Pravda).

On the Bill we have Dj Sets from:
    GRUFF RHYS
    ANDY VOTEL
    B_MUSIC COLLECTIVE DJS
    DARKLIGHT DJS
    +
A special Halloween live set from
    THE SYNTH EASTWOOD BAND.

Fresh from the Irish premiere of his new film "Seperado" screened in the IFI earlier that day Welsh renaissance man GRUFF RHYS (Super Furry Animals / Neon Neon) will take to the stage for a DJ set.

GRUFF will be joined by ANDY VOTEL. Andy is a producer, label head, event curator and a pal of Badly Drawn Boy, with whom he founded the Twisted Nerve imprint in 1997—but, above all, the Englishman is one of the best mix-CD mavens out there. Affiliated with the Finders Keepers label and B-Music (which also counts David Holmes among its founders). He is no stranger to Ireland having played here a number of times and even signed Dublin outfit 'Twin Kranes' to his label.

B-MUSIC will be taking over a full room to offload their unearthly delights. For the uninitiated in their words "they are an independent collective of DJs, musicians and music lovers dedicated to the obsessive and painstaking pursual of obscure, obsolete, exquisitely obnoxious, unbelievable, underexposed and undeniably delectable discs of experimental pop music from the psyched-out sixties and seventies."

The SYNTH EASTWOOD Band haven't been allowed an outing since Electric Picnic and we've been tuning our Oboes all week for a Halloween Monster mash. You can here our previous sets here.
