advice on how to get into counselling and or psychotherapy

    Hi Im was looking to do a course in counselling and or psychotherapy,and was wondering if anyone here could point me in the right dirrection.At the moment Im a 22 year old sound engineer,and Im hoping to change career.which would you suggest a ba,masters,diploma, bcs or doctorate.Also is there any city and guilds like body out there for this line of work/would your qualifications be recognised over seas like in canada-and inorder to get into these courses will I need experience or sme thing to link into them.
