Another Dell Wireless Problem - Think this is more hardware related

    All Help Appreciated !

    I'm running a Dell Votsro 1500 - XP Professional 32bit - Antivirus is NOD32 .

    The wireless card is an Intel(R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG .

The problem started a few months ago . Firstly what would happen was that I would find I would have no wireless connection and could not find any network . Usually a reboot would solve the situation . At this point in time the system was running the most up to date driver .

The problem started to become more persistant so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver - also I started to use the WZC service instead of the software provided by intel as I found that if I did a "repair" through the WZC this would resolve the issue too at times .

Then a while later while at a friends house the wireless was lost but rebooting the system did not resolve the issue showing no wireless network available - I tried many times and left it for a few hours and then starting it up again it worked .

So next I took out the wireless card and put it back in again - still the problem continued .

So then I decided to reinstall the OS/drivers and start from scratch - not that the system was clogged but I do like to keep a clean running system so I figured there would be no harm in it anyways . On doing so the problem still persisted after installing the wireless driver so I tried out the oldest driver I could find for the problem and this seemed to work - for a while .

So now I still lose the connection every now and then - the system can't find any wireless network and now when I reboot the wireless conection is showing up as disabled and when I try to enable it I get a "connection failed error ". The only way I can get around it is by rebooting the system untill it resolves itself .

I didn't ever go back to using the intel software as I find when the problem began, trying to "repair" "disable" "enable" the wireless through the software would just lag to the point of doing nothing .

In this time also I have ruled out the router by resetting it - using different channels - and my phone would connect to the wifi network while my computer could not find one .

So what next - Is there a diagnostic I can run ? do I need a new card ? and if so what can you recommend that would be compatible with this computer .

As I previously said all help would be appreciated - I've tried to provide all the relevant info - If you need more please ask ....

    Cheers
    Gav
