Gear Box Sticking

Over the last couple of days I've been having trouble getting my car into the lower gears in particular (i.e. 1 & 2).

This seems to become a problem the longer I've been driving, i.e. if I just sit into the car for the first time and drive around town for ten minutes I'll have little or no trouble, but after an hour of driving on the motorway if I have to slow down it's really tough to get the car into the low gears.

Any idea what the problem could be?

what make and model year and engine is it

Could be clutch cable, clutch slave cylinder, or clutch or gearbox. or clutch release bearing,

I think these are clutch cable .. so a simple adjustment by mechanic or yourself might do (10mins)

Thanks - I'll take it to the mechanic so.

Any idea - assuming it is the clutch cable - how much I would be looking at to get it fixed? Ballpark figure will do obv...

I had this happen in an Avensis, the colder the weather got the more obvious it was.

A simple change of gearbox fluid cured it for good
