Maybe check his discography. Seeing as he was playing live they're all pretty much his tracks...

New respect for Deadmau5 when I read this on RA:

"Deadmau5 strained under the his Terrace residency, to the point where I think he was probably glad when it was over. For an island so accustomed to epic 4/4 experiences, ten minute beat-less intros and ambient dubstep wasn't exactly the way to endear himself to an expectant crowd."

Although that mask does look a bit silly in the UCD bar.

He isn't a DJ par say. He plays live from Ableton. So basically one set might never be the same as the next. He builds his tracks and add's effects as he goes along, throws in some outside loops.

As such no set list will really exist.

Yeah I know this but usually his tracks have names, regardless on what way they are played on the night, he builds the likes of ghosts n stuff too but it still has a name if ya get me

The tracks you didn't know, he could have been building off loops he hasn't released, or just playing completely live, making new stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 637 ✭✭✭Dannyboi3k

Yeah I understand that, was just seein if anyone could suss out what they were but obviously not :D

he only plays his own tracks and loops, bar a james holden remix of a tune he always used to play

André Kraml - Safari (James Holden Remix)

There is quite a few tunes he plays that are not his own tbh, could name a few harvey mckay - 69 just bein an example just thought someone might have recognised it, but it probably more than likely is from his own library of tracks that he made

Deadmau5: “It puts me to ****ing sleep to be quite honest, I don’t really see the technical merit in playing two songs at the same speed together and it bores me to ****ing tears and hopefully with all due respect to the dj type that will ****ing go the way of the dinosaur id like them to dis-a-****ing-pear. Joel continued, its so middle man, they’re like ****ing lawyers. You need them, but they’re ****ing ****s. God bless them they’re my number one customer right so I’m not gonna go diss every ****ing DJ. But to say you become this massive up on a podium performer by playing other peoples productions at the same speed as someone else’s productions and fading between the two of them, I don’t get it.”

    He certainly isnt.

What a tosser. Playing your own ****ty production loops in ableton is as **** as it gets. He looks ridiculous, he plays **** music and people whooping at in him UCD are ***** of the highest order.

ps. Do you actually think that first track is good?

Just curious but has anyone heard him do one of his ableton performances.

Does he cut up his tracks or is it just as they sound in there original format.

and if he does cut them up is it really as intiricate as he makes it out to be.

I honestly dont think he uses half the equipment he has on stage

I agree, I don't think he uses half the equipment he sets up which begs the question, why oh why would you pull apart a track you made earlier, just to put it back together "live"...seems like a lot of effort for no return. I am convinced that Deadmau5 started out to impress all the anoraks with an over-kill setup but instead, ended up impressing the masses with giant sized headgear.

Merely a way of justifying a fee.

i think that might be it but does he need to.

Tiesto and Guetta dont have crazy gear lists(well not that i would know but never seen them with alot of gear)

I got one of his latest sets at cream or something like that and its pretty ****e.Im usually a fan of his sets but what he was doing could have been done just with CDJs

Also ive read that quote of his dissing DJs before,id like to see him have a battle with Andy C,andy would tear him a new arsehole at mixing.

Wouldn't be a fan at all myself, but being in the college I've been to most of the semi-reasonable gigs inside in the student bar and can definitely say I had as good a time at Deadmau5 as any proper night I've been out to in town.

The soundsystem and lighting kitout is all hired in for it and the venue is sound enough with a cheap bar going till 2 and a massive smoking area; have seen Felix Da Housecat, Justice, Digitalism, Deadmau5, The Wailers and Dancepig inside there in the last two years and they've all been some of the best gigs I've ever been at for sheer enthusiasm out of a crowd and definitely the best weird mix of people on a clubbing night out, albeit students.

UCD student bar is the worst place i have ever been in my life, its full of prententcious prats and lager louts, i think id rather claw out my own eyes that ever go to than hell hole again and ive been in UCD for 4 years now.

I haven't been, but have only heard awful things from people going there, international DJs having to drop Killing In The Name Of etc to please the crowd.

International DJs deciding to drop them - no one forced them to do anything. ****ing Felix dropping ''Smells like Teen Spirit'' was a little much to be fair, but people like say... Dubfire or Zabiella to name two are well able to drop cheesy ****e inside in town as well.

And I mean, to be fair, the Pav inside in Trinity doesn't do a fecking thing - nor really do UCC or NUIG. UCD is probably the best student bar in the country in terms of gigs and brand names playing there, electro/chart non-withstanding.

reminiscent of that twat roger sanchez dropping the broom song in the venue.

that was my call to leave

Felix playing Smells Like Teen Spirit, that's what I was referring to yeah, forgot the details of it.

Ah the Pav is awful, and I won't remotely defend Trinity Ents, have never had anything to do with them. Queens student bar is amazing, if you consider that in the country, has 3 floors if I remember correctly, the basement being a pretty good venue for DJs.

I've seen Felix a few times now and he played Smells Like Teen Spirit every time, so it wasn't a case of playing it at UCD to please the crowd.

To be honest I don't mind the UCD bar for gigs (I've only been to two or three there mind you), there's generally a good mix of people and the pretentious type tend to stay away from the dance floor and can be ignored as long as you're not one of those people who are ridicuously overly counscious about other people at a gig. It's certainly better than being at a gig full of trendy scenesters or scumbags anyway.

This is Trevor. His pale complexion and thousand yard stare hid the anguish that rests inside his frail, emaciated body. The anguish of being an international DJ forced against his will to play crowd pleasing tracks. He has tried to stop but keeps slipping back into this repulsive habit, egged on by his audience. It is only when he tries to close his eyes and sleep at night that he realises the full extent of what he has done. Trevor has tarnished his reputation and the esteem in which he was placed amongst his International peers. Trevor can no longer sleep peacefully.

Stop the cruelty. Stop forcing Internation DJs to play crowdpleasing hits…
