    Men:
    Christian Cantwell USA
    Tyson Gay USA
    Steven Hooker AUS
    Bernard Lagat USA
    Christophe Lemaitre FRA
    David Oliver USA
    David Rudisha KEN
    Zersenay Tadese ERI
    Teddy Tamgho FRA
    Andreas Thorkildsen NOR

    Women:
    Veronica Campbell Brown JAM
    Milcah Chemos Cheywa KEN
    Meseret Defar ETH
    Jessica Ennis GBR
    Allyson Felix USA
    Fabiana Murer BRA
    Nadzeya Ostapchuk BLR
    Olga Rypakova KAZ
    Blanka Vlasic CRO
    Anita Wlodarczyk POL

I'll admit to not being up on the field events, so it would be Rudisha and Ennis for me.

Rudisha will probably win in a landslide, but he shades it from Oliver from me.

Women's is much tighter. I haven't checked, but did Wlodarczyk break the WR? I'd pick her, if so.

For me there is no looking passed Rudisha not just because of the WR but he has been completely dominant in what most middle distance guys would consider a very long season. Tyson Gay i feel also gets a notable mention for a good season

On the Women side Felix all the way

Rudisha nailed on and Vlasic a confident choice for the womens

Yes, Rudisha is automatic followed by Gay/Oliver.

Women are much harder, possibly Jessica Ennis. It's been quite a modest year in many women's events.

Hard to get away from Felix losing to VCB in New York though.

True but in terms of the overall season and consistency at both the two and the step up to the four has me feeling she deserves it

Vlasic or Ennis for the womens, no way can Felix get it, considering she's not world leader at 200 or 400, and there's no championship medals this year to make up for it. Felix hasn't really progressed over 400 as many expected, failing to break 50 this year. Sanya Richards, if fit, will always have her number over 400 anyway, and likewise VCB over 200.

Not sure I'd agree with this. Felix is a 3 time World champion over the two. Theres more than just the Olympics!

    Rudisha and Vlasic for me.
