I got myself an SRC M4 a couple of months ago, and i thought that this was completely normal, but then a friend got a G36C, and it sounded perfect.

My problem is when i pull the trigger, the gun sounds different every time. it seems to shoot fine distance wise, but why does it sound so strange? and how do i fix it??

    Thanks,
    Avose

It would be very hard for someone to give you advice over the internet if the only thing thats wrong with it is that its making a weird noise. We can hear it so we can't really help you.
Someone might be able to help if you gave more information. Like what type of sound it is. High pitched whine? A grinding noise? Also where is the sound coming from?

But in all honesty I'd say you'll have to bring it to a tech. That is unless you want to open it up yourself and see whats what.

ok, would me posting a vid on youtube or something help?
and i have absolutly no prob opening it up, i like to think im a tech in the making :P i opened up a scorpion and fixed the broken gearbox in that, so repairing something that may be broken would be no worries for me.
i just wondered has this been seen b4, and is it an easy fix?
ill post a vid when i get a chance so you can hear for yourself :)

Oh well if your comfortable with opening the gearbox then I'd suggest cracking it open and have a little look see ;).

The few things that pop into my mind that could cause an odd noise are:

The motor, its either too tight or too loose.
The gears, a number of things could be up with them and usually they make alot of noise when they're not running right. So check the shimming and the bushings/bearings.
The spring, could of been cut to downgrade the power, but the spring has been cut too short (basically causing the piston to bounce around inside the gearbox after every shot).

ok ill take it apart and see whats up tomorrow, or next time i get a chance :)

also, i just got a vid of it, i had to take it really quick cause my batteries were dieing... :P
its crap quality, but you can distinctly here the the inconsistent noises from the gearbox.

tell me if that helps narrowing down what it could be :P

    thanks :)

Sounds like the motor to me, needs to be adjusted properly.

When you say adjusted, do you just mean put closer/farther away from the gerabox? like push it in more/less ?

I do indeed, loosen the set screw all the way and then tighten it until there's a bit of resistance and then back a half turn.

ok great ill give that a shot, and get back with the results :)
    thanks alot Leftyflip, and Dread-Lock

No problem! And yeah it sounds like the motor to me too.

ok sorry i took so long to get back, but i did it.
how much resistance should there be before i turn back half a turn?
i turned it for a turn or two after i felt the slightest resistance, then i went back a little.

also now when i fire it is very consistent sound (yaay! :D ) but my gearbox seems really loud on full auto. like louder then it was, and it wasnt very quiet before.

have i done something wrong? do i need to shim my gearbox? or take it apart? i think im gonna take it apart anyway just to check out whats goin on in there and see if its all correct (like AOE and stuff like that) using pages like this one to help me out.

    thanks alot! :)

EDIT : crap... looks like i now have a new problem :P i cant get the back pin out >.< as I turn the screw holding it in, the whole pin spins, and i cant get it open... any ideas|?

Edit2: ok i got it. Vice grips worked a charm :P
