    Hi,
I have been to Puerto del Carmen and Playa Del Ingles and was not anxious to return to either.

However Am booking a villa for a 2 week stay in Feb with child and grandparents and hoping to avoid the craziness of the these places.......

Can anyone recommend somewhere with decent restaurants and minimal union jack short wearing barbarians........

    thanks in advance........

    Dave

Los Christinanos in Tenerife is quite nice and sedate... If you get bored there you can take a taxi into Las Americas which is a bit livlier..

I've only ever stayed in Las Americas myself but my parents love Los Christianos.. lovely restaurants etc, and sans the party animals..

Do not go to Las Americas in Tenerife. It is like Finglas-on-the-sea.

Los Cristianos is pretty. Alternatively I would go to either Lanzarote (excluding P del Carmen) or Fuerteventura.

not going to be many union jack, beer drinking people around in february anyway but if you want to avoid the tackiness of the likes of playa del ingles and del Carmen you could do worse than Puerto de Mogan in gran canaria (worth it for the drive up alone) or Los Gigantes in tenerife

you could try costa teguise or playa blanca in lanzarote
much quieter resorts but small island so you can go to PdelCarmen for day or visit national park or Jameous del Agua in north if ye get bored

I'm staying in this place in a couple of weeks. http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/canaries/c247.htm

I'll let you know what it's like. that is if the opinion of a union jack short wearing barbarian is worth anything to you;) (Although i have to admit, one of the things that attracted me to Costa Teguise is that there shouldn't be too many of those types around).

with Aer lingus flights from Dublin, the week away has cost us around €1700 for three people. It would work out cheaper per person if you were taking more.

thanks for all advice to date...........much appreciated

can anyone rate Playa Blanca in Lanzarote against Los Christianos or Los Gigantes in Tenerife ?

Rang one of the villa outfits and they are steering me towards Playa Blanca.........said Puerto Mogan & Los Cristanos in Teneride were v busy and put me off a lovely looking villa in a golf resort outside Maspalomas in Gran Canaria as said it was also too cut off and Maspalmoas a bit nasty.........

    any more views?

    thanks again
