Main Meal Supplement

    Hi All,

I just have a query regarding supplements on main meals for weddings.

If a hotel has the wording "A choice menu is available at a supplement of €5 per course on the more expensive choice." what does that actually amount to if say you have a choice of Meat (€50)* and Fish (€40)* and 100 people go for the Meat and 50 people go for the fish?

    My understanding is that you pay for the cost of the meat (€50) + €5 per serving (I.e. €55 * 100 = €5500) and cost of the fish (€40 - I.e. €40 * 50 = €2000)

    Are my assumptions correct?

    Much appreciated

*All example costs - couldnt justify those prices for main meals alone but definitly made the calculations easier.

best bet is to ask the hotel in question but its my understanding that its the most expensive plus suppliment regardless of what is chosen by each guest.

What I will be doing and Ive asked some hotels about this is if I come back with X number for meat and x number for fish will the waive the suppliment and all have said yes.

so on my RSVP's I will be asking for them to provide their main course preference.

As far as I know it is more like 55 per head on the whole lot but I could be wrong.

What it means is that if you want a choice on your menu you pay an extra €5 a head for all guests so in your example it would be €55 for every meat eater you invite and €45 for every fish eater!
I hope for your sake those prices are not actual hotel quotes and are just figures out of your head!!

As said above, that means that all meals are €55 regardless of who has what.

Tell the hotel you have viewed other venues and there is no extra fee for the choice menu! :D

I also reckon it's a €5 onto the more expensive choice and that then decides the price for everyone, regardless of what they choose, so the amount per person then is €55 and the €40 doesn't come into the equation regardless.
