Not sure if this fits here or in the Rock and Metal forum but anyway...

    Here's the deal:

The Wacken Metal Battle will be run in Ireland for the first time in 2011. Wacken (for those who don’t know) is the biggest metal festival in the world and takes place in northern Germany each summer. www.wacken.com

The Wacken Metal Battle has been running since 2004 and currently takes place in 29 countries worldwide. Bands from each of these countries compete to represent their country at Wacken, where they do battle with the winners of each of the other countries on stage at Wacken. The winner gets a Worldwide recording deal with Wacken Records along with a number of endorsements from some of the festival’s sponsors and partners.

As this is the first time the Battle is being run in Ireland it will start small with just two heats (semi-finals) and a final. All will take place in Dublin (depending on levels of interest we might run regional finals from next year on).

The heats will take place in February and the final in early March.

Bands interested in entering – here are the details:

Please send an e-mail to metalbattleireland [at] gmail.com (obviously replace [at] with @) with the following:

1.A link (myspace, soundcloud, reverbnation etc) to four original tracks that you have recorded. These tracks must be downloadable.
2.A list of the four tracks you are putting forward
    3.A Band Biography
    4.A Band Photo
5.Contact details (including a phone number)
6.Confirmation that all band members will be 18 years of age by 1st February 2010
7.Confirmation that the band is available to travel to Wacken in Germany in July/August 2011 should you win the Irish final

    Rules:

    1.Closing Date for entries – 1st December 2010
2.Your band must be unsigned i.e. does not have a deal and isn't about to sign to a label in the near future
3.Your band must be able to easily play a 30 minute set consisting entirely of your own songs
4.The winner from each country will participate in the international final which will take place on the WET STAGE during the Wacken festival
5.Bands must be able to travel to Wacken, Germany in August 2011
6.Bands travel to the heats, finals and Wacken at their own expense
7.The bands must bring their own instruments (backline incl drums will be provided), heads, cymbals and pedals
8.To keep the changeover times as short as possible, bands with left handed drummers will play as first or last band. All bands have to follow the directions given by the promoters or stage manager
9.Semi playback is not allowed. All bands must play live
10.The performance time for each band is at least 20 minutes
11.If a band overruns its allotted performance-time their sound will be faded out
12.A panel of judges will decide the winners – the judges decision is final

The Wacken Metal Battle Ireland is a Crunch Metal Production in partnership with ICS Festival Service GmbH

    It's grand here I reckon :).

I'd be all over this if I had a band. Good luck to anyone that enters!
