LC Points

I applied for a job last week but I am only after finding out that it that required me to have 450 points in my Leaving Cert as well as a 2.1. I have the 2.1 but I dont have the LC Points and the way I put my results on CV is without which level I sat them at so it looks like I did better then I actually did.

Anyway I found out today I have an interview for them and I am worried that if I get asked about my LC that I will not be considered for the role once they find out what I actually got points wise.

So I am just wondering how should I handle this situation if I am asked about my LC points?

i find it odd that they are looking for exact LC points however I would just be completely honest during the interview because there nothing worse than lying in an interview.

however you can say that it was something in the job description you overlooked and only realised your honest mistake after you submitted your CV and application.

I know a guy who applied for a job, did the aptitude tests, did the interview, and got the job.. only to be fired 6 weeks later when they found out he didn't have a high enough leaving- HR kept asking him for his results transcript and he eventually brought it in. (it was actually the grades requirement that let him down.. he needed 2 honours and 4 passes or something like that)

Companies have no shortage of people who actually met the points requirement to choose from. Some of them actually read the job spec too ;)

The fact you didn't mention the level you sat your exams at was pretty dishonest in my opinion.. I'd generally assume higher level unless otherwise stated (Oh, you got an A in Maths, that's amazing... until you find out it was an A in foundation) and given the 450 points requirement it's probable that your potential employer assumed your grades were higher level, too.

OK I'm done lecturing. To be honest i wouldn't have met the points requirement for that job either :p

If I were you I probably wouldn't go to the interview with first phoning the recruiter, explaining my mistake and asking them if they will still consider me for the role.

Otherwise the interview could be a disaster... just waiting for the right time to get to that pesky mistake, wondering should you wait until they bring it up or just blurt it out at the start of the interview.. them perhaps wondering why you didn't mention it before the interview.. and any questions involving attention to detail, integrity, a time you made a mistake and how you reacted.. will just leave you squirming!
