Just wondering if ay of you got around this one: I have had 2 employers go out of business and have no way of getting in touch with them for references ( both declined all their employees written references).
Anyone know what happens in cases like this when you apply or a job and want to prove you worked somewhere and had a good record?
    thanks

Ad them to the CV, if they cannot be contacted only then explain in honest terms the situation and the lack of assitance with regards written references.

On your CV simply place the words "References will be provided upon request"

When contacted, give full details of the company and explain the situation, then gone to give details of someone who worked with you and is willing to give you to give a personal reference.

    Good luck with that,

    Jim

As the poster above said, get a personal reference from a former co-worker. Offer to provide P60's as proof of employment, and a copy of your notice letter to show you probably weren't fired.
