Anybody watch the doc on tv last night about the chile mining rescue, One of the miners Edison Pena used to run 3-6 miles daily in the tunnels.

In anyway he has been invited to run in the NY Marathon

Thought I saw some report whilst they were still down the hole claiming that he did triathlons, I suspect that was just the reporter not knowing what a triathlon was and just throwing random words in.

Didn't see last nights doc, but was possibly just a clip from it, but they were showing him chatting on the video conference down the mine and the family and medics were getting seriously concerned about his mental state down there, and the running probably freaked them out a bit as well.

Would be good if they got him to go along to start the race or something, not sure that running it would be a good idea though.

Heard about this. I can't imagine running a few miles a day in extreme humidity in an environment that is incredibly dusty would be good for the lungs. Some of the other miners were suffering from lung damage (can't recall proper name of disease) due to being underground for so long. Wonder if they spotted any ill effects on the lung tissue of Pena ?

I read somewhere that they passed down a Power Balance band to him early on and he was pretty much fine after that.

I heard he had some 'miner' injuries, but that was from his co-workers throwing rocks at him and telling him to STFD!
