Hey I'm thinking of getting mobile broadband but I'm wondering which one i should go for. i would be using it really just for playing online MMO's

would mobile broadband be suitable for this and if so which provider would be the best??

    edit

just saw the sticky at the top of the page that clarified it for me :p

    1) No. Speed and latency jitters hugely. Latency is usually about x3 to x20 what is desirable for gameplay.

    2) Which ever one happens to work where you live. But it can worsen to 1/10th performance later.

It's for light browsing and occasional email. It's not Broadband.

3 are no better or worse. It depends where you are, time of day, how many people near you get iPhone or Mobile Dongle after you get it (4 heavy users will wreck your performance). If it works OK the best way to wreck your speed is encourage the neighbours to join.

195ms pingtime is definitely not suitable for any form of gaming other than chess

195ms is not a bad ping for 3G, but very poor for gaming. You could get away with it, but it will definitely be laggy, and you can expect to be kicked from servers often.

i was testing a 3 pay midband the other day, using a sierra wireless 888 modem, downloading near enough 5mb speed, 81ms ping. wow was i surprised!
