The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2009)
Two men fortify a nondescript British apartment so it can serve as a prison, and then kidnap a woman and tie her to a bed. Before there's even time to react, we're plunged into a very nasty situation, but not a simple one.

    Trailer:

    Anyone else see this?

A damn solid British thriller with a decent twist every 15 - 20 minutes absolutely marred by a cliched terrible ending.

Three solid performances from the leads (Gemma Arterton looks stunning, Eddie Marsan always does his standard brooding hard-man role very well and Martin Compston was decent too). The first 70 minutes (
    in the apartment
) are great but then it falls apart.

    Really disappointing ending.

Haven't watched it yet, but really looking forward to it. I like Eddie Marsan quite a lot. He's a very good character actor. Myself and two mates do a semi-regular grim night of movies, and this is on the shortlist for the next grimmening. Along with (oh, god, I cant wait...) A Serbian Film, and some of Gaspar Noe's early stuff.

Agree with that. Couple of great, jaw-dropping twists but then the film seemed to get lost and ran out of steam.

Wasn't Arterton linked with the upcoming Alien prequel?
