Loved season one but am finding all the furry creatures and pigs and Egyptian goddesses and OTT Church a bit hard to take.
Though there was a great dynamic in the first series when it was just vampires and humans but now it seems they are throwing everything into the mix - anyone else feeling like this?

Nope! It was something set up from day one with Sam and Sookie that there was more than just vampires populating this world and obviously the show runners knew all that from the moment they read the book and wrote the series treatment. Better to move and take risks than repeat the same old tricks until they're valueless.

I felt that season 2 was the weakest of the 3 so far and it took me serveral weeks to get into it. It does improve and the last few episodes are excellent, so I would keep with it if I were you.

Thats like calling out peter jackson for putting elves in the lord of the rings, there are werewolves and shapeshifters in the books so they are going to be in the tv show too

If you disillusioned now, then stop watching. I thought all three seasons were great, but the supernatural element gets continuously cranked up.

I got severely fed up with Tara in the third season... anyone with me here?
As for the second, yeah keep with it, and you'll enjoy it. Or you won't and you'll stop watching. Either way, you won't WONDER lol

Anyone who has read the books will know the who's and why's and what's that about's... but I'm glad they didn't stick EXACTLY to the books, or we'd have no reason to watch :P
