    The anual production of 30MW of Cadmium PV panels (6/2008 - 6/2009) is called back by the manufacturer First Solar.
    Dramatic decrease of the efficiency.

    The consumers are informed via German Media, I couldn't find anything in English, not even on the home page of the company. They were the cheapest PV panels at the time, made with special exemptions concerning the protection of the biosphere against heavy metals....
    The conditions (that the usage of cadmium was allowed) laid down that a functioning recycling system exists. Obviously First Solar doesn't know were these potentially dangerous products have ended, only a small fraction had been returned so far.

    presumably these were CdTe panels which are the suck, and a completely different technology to silicon panels.

    there also isn't all that much tellurium around. so they were never going to be popular for long

    I think the solar penal is really very usefull now day and also very cheapest form of generating electricity. I am using solar energy from last 30 years and its saves my lots of money.
