Getting CSPE accredited as a teaching subject if do PGCE

I did sociology as part of my first degree and have been given recognition by the teaching council that I can use it as a teaching subject. My question is, if I do a PGCE (in England where CSPE is not offered) instead of a PGDE, how do I get it recognised by the teaching council without the Teacher Training Qualification for it? Do I just have to do it through the PGDE or else forfeit it as a teaching subject?

Your teaching subjects will be accredited on the basis of your degree and not your teaching methodology subjects. So it doesn't matter if you don't do teaching practice in CSPE as part of your teacher training.

Are you 100% certain Rosita? Another poster a good while back had a degree in sociology and was UK qualified as a teacher of it....they wouldn't register him as a CSPE teacher....

Another way you can become recognised is to teach a certain number of timetabled hours of CSPE, when you're qualified and in a school. I don't know the exact criteria though....sorry!
