was reading that chuck is close to getting a back 9 episode order of nbc, they were also saying that in the current climate steady ratings are the new up, so it could be an indication of a season 5 also, :)

    Superb news if it happens..

.. I think if anything it'll be confirmation that NBC are happy with "steady" ratings and a cult following.

Considering its one of the only NBC shows remaining at a steady rating, its doing pretty well this year. Most of the new shows are dropping by the week, and shows like Chuck and Community are managing to hold their own, which hopefully is a good sign come May when next years season is announced. By the way things are looking at the moment, Outsourced may be the only new show to be picked up (and even that could still crash and burn)...

Obviously its not great news for NBC that the majority of their shows are failing, but its good news for Chuck fans.

Woot! I hope they pick up the pace, maybe it's me but it just feels like something is lacking this season.

Am I the only one that sees this as a bad thing?

    Why

    Why
I don't think pickarooney has been a fan of the latest season.

    Why

I'll write a more detailed post on it later, but I'm generally a fan of shorter seasons where the plot doesn't wander aimlessly and the good stuff is concentrated into 10-15 episodes. Of the six I've seen so far this season I reckon they could have made two, maybe three very good episodes. I also think they should have arcs that span 2-3 shows instead of wrapping up everything so tidily and predictably every week. Plus it's gone very stale and needs a few fresh ideas.

I'm pretty sure they had episode 13 close to locked by the time the order came in, so I'm assuming it's going to be the same as last season (with it essentially being split into two).

Yeah, that's my fear as well. It was handled really badly last year with basically a series finale followed by two or three episodes of standing about with their thumbs up their arses and then a second finale.

Season 3 definitely felt unstructured on a whole as a result, especially with the Ring (worst bad guys ever. I'm guessing they were focusing more on Shaw being the big bad, but still). Who knows, though. They may have learned from last year. Also, considering it's 11 episodes, it might just end up being an expansion (possible wrong word), rather than feeling like an extra section of the season.

I'd prefer it this way, because full 22-episode seasons are stretched out, and there're a lot of deadweight episodes (like in season 2). Plus it's more episodes, so who am I to complain? ^-^

Great news as long as they don't drag out the season, I seemed to remember Season 2 being very dragged out and it had a full 22 episode season. I'm still on the fence for this season, I don't think it will be as good as Season 3 but the last season did raise the bar very high, was a superb season.

I do hope though that Chuck will end on a high and gets a proper ending rather than ending in mid-air. I'd prefer if they ended it this season, rather than the show being dropped half way into Season 5.

The Office, Parks & Recreation and Community all renewed by NBC at this point and Harry's Law is performing well in the ratings (well compared to Chuck).

I hate to say it, but it's not looking good for a Chuck season 5. :(

I think Chucks time has come & gone. This season has been less than impressive imo.

yeah i fear for chuck, but a do think there running out of ways to keep the show on its toes, i would hope if they get a season 5 that chuck and sarah will be married going on missions as an extremely successfull team, kind of do what undercovers should have been,
